St. Simons Island
St. Simons Island is the largest of Georgia's barrier islands, separated from the mainland by salt marshes, tidal rivers and sounds. St. Simons will captivate you with its remarkable beauty, fascinating history, and pristine beaches.

There are also 99 holes of golf to enjoy along with superb tennis facilities.

Visit the sites of historic plantations or the historic Fort Frederica that dates back to 1736. Stop by the Bloody Marsh Battle Site and learn how an outnumbered force of British troops ambushed and defeated Spanish troops on July 7, 1742. This battle ended Spanish claims on the Georgia territory. Or enjoy a visit to the quaint and historic Christ Church.

You can climb the 129 steps up the beautiful St. Simons Lighthouse, one of five remaining in Georgia. The lighthouse keeper’s home houses The Coastal Georgia Historical Society museum and gift shop. A new 10,000 square foot Heritage Center is planned for the Lighthouse Museum campus.
At the Beachfront Massengale Park your family can enjoy the playground, picnic facilities and restroom facilities. This park is in the center of several miles of beautiful beach.

At the southern end of the island is the St. Simons Island Village, an eclectic collection of shops, galleries and restaurants.
