History, culture, outdoor activities and a vibrant lifestyle make this a great place to live and visit. The Roswell and Alpharetta Tourist Guide can help you plan your visit so that your experience is complete and enjoyable.

Alpharetta is a charming town with plenty of personality. With 23 upscale and modern hotels, seven unique shopping districts, over 200 restaurants and unique attractions such as the American Girl Boutique and Bistro, the Honda Rider Education experience, year-round special events and festivities—Alpharetta is the perfect place to visit. Roswell is also a great southern town that cherishes its rich, historic origins and yet relishes in its present modern-day, up-scale lifestyle and cultural activities. There are numerous festivals, concerts, and other cultural events that occur throughout the year, such as the Taste of Alpharetta and Taste of Roswell, the Roswell Heritage Music Festival and the Alpharetta Arts Streetfest.

For outdoor activities, we suggest taking advantage of Roswell or Alpharetta’s award-winning parks system. Alpharetta’s Big Creek Greenway provides a 6.15-mile, 12-foot-wide paved pathway through the city, offering a safe place for running, walking, cycling and inline skating. There are also 16 miles of trails winding through Roswell, which lies on the banks of the beautiful Chattahoochee River. Or simply take in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and all it has to offer. The Chattahoochee Nature Center offers woodland trails, marsh boardwalk, exhibits, wildflower gardens and native wildlife. Nearby you can find several outfitters that can equip you for a leisurely rafting trip down “the Hooche”. Alpharetta’s partnership with the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce means there are more recreational amenities at your fingertips—providing more places for groups to gather and individuals to enjoy the outdoors.

For a sampling of history, tour Barrington Hall, an excellent example of Greek Revival Temple Architecture that took five years to construct and has been described as one of metro Atlanta’s most beautiful homes. Bulloch Hall is a must visit as well. This magnificent home has been the setting for many impressive events. On December 22, 1853 Major Bulloch's daughter, Mittie, married Theodore Roosevelt. The President later came back to visit and gave a speech here. Eleanor Roosevelt had ties here as and visited on several occasions.
