Georgia Hiking Trails

Hiking Trails
Hiking trails in Georgia are plentiful and offer a diversity that can only be found in a few states. Experience the majesty of the North Georgia Mountains. Traverse mountains, rolling hills and plateaus, and savor the waterfalls that are along many of the trails. Four of the top hiking trails are the Appalachian Trail, Bartram Trail, Amicalola Falls State Park, and Brasstown Bald. However an excellent website that provides information on most of the trails in the northern half of the state is Georgia Hiking Trails. In central Georgia, hikers should check out the scenic beauty of the Altamaha River Trail or retrace history at the Pickett’s Mill Battlefield Historic Site. Along the Colonial Coast Birding Trail a hiker will observe many of the 300 species of birds that claim the area along this trail as their habitat. Salt marshes, tidal rivers and wetlands provide a rich environment for wildlife and spectacular scenery for the hiker. Remember, most of the Georgia State Parks offer good hiking trails.
