Georgia Bed and Breakfasts

Enjoy the quaint charm and southern hospitality that the Georgia bed and breakfasts afford. These delightful inns are scattered throughout the state and provide an opportunity to meet good, down home folks and truly experience the area culture. If you are looking for a mountain getaway, you will find many B&B accommodations available. In the original gold-rush town of Dahlonega, you might try the Lily Creek Lodge Bed & Breakfast for a European style B&B and romantic getaway. For an 1880’s inn that is within walking distance of the historic town square shops, The Catherine Ward House is an excellent choice. Either of these will also put you in the middle of Georgia’s wine country. A more recent addition to the Georgia B&B list is the Overlook Inn, atop Fort Mountain near Ellijay. The inn was designed and positioned for spectacular views of the Chattahoochee National Forest and Blue Ridge Mountains. For a romantic getaway try Clayton’s Beechwood Inn, voted Best Inn in North America for a Weekend Escape – 2006”.

If choosing one of the many Georgia bed and breakfasts along the Antebellum Trail is more to your liking, perhaps you should try the Southern Cross Guest Ranch / Bed & Breakfast near Madison in the Historic Heartland of Georgia where the all inclusive fee includes horseback riding, a pool, hot tub, and more. The Farmhouse Inn Bed & Breakfast near Madison features a turn-of-the-century farmhouse with pastures and barns.

In the charming city of Columbus you can stay at the 1880 The Gates House Bed & Breakfast located in the heart of the historic district. Enjoy relaxing on the front porch of this elegant Victorian-style inn. In Macon a stay at the award-winning 1842 Inn is sure to be a winning choice. In the Presidential Pathways Region, you can slip back in time and recapture the grandeur of the ''Old South'' at the restored Antebellum Plantation Manor House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and sits on 13 acres, just south of the City of Greenville in historic Meriwether County.

While on the Georgia coast, Savannah has a number of beautiful bed and breakfasts from which to choose. Many are located within the historic district. The award-winning Eliza Thompson House is one of the oldest (built in 1847) and The Catherine Ward House are two examples of inns that offer elegance and charm near the finest shops and restaurants. Further south in the town of St. Marys, you might try the 1872 Victorian-style Spencer House Inn Bed & Breakfast. It has received the distinction “as the finest hotel in St. Marys and southeast Georgia.” However, equally impressive is the top 50 ranking the Greyfield Inn on Cumberland Island received in the August 2007 issue of Travel + Leisure Magazine – that is the top 50 in all of the Continental U.S. and Canada.
