Description
Golf at The Hampton Club
Owned and operated by The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, the renowned Hampton Club is known for its emerald, manicured fairways, ancient forests, vast salt marshes, dramatic island holes, PGA instruction and comfortable clubhouse overlooking the vast lake that adds to the challenge of the course’s 9th hole. With its warm and welcoming clubhouse and exceptional staff, The Hampton Club is the perfect location for your next coastal Georgia golf vacation.
The celebrated character of this award-winning course is the extraordinary beauty that unfolds in harmony with the challenges of one of coastal Georgia's great courses. Designed by renowned architect Joe Lee, the Hampton Club's signature is the group of four spectacular holes gently carved from small coastal marsh islands and accessed by 800-feet of elevated cart bridges. This bold and brilliant design marks the highlight of the back nine, but Lee’s genius extends through the entire 18-hole, Par 72 course as it bends around towering oaks, along large areas of salt marshes, and across lakes and lagoons.

The Course
The Hampton Club course occupies some of coastal Georgia's most beautiful acreage. And most historic. The site was once home to Hampton Plantation, an 18th century, antebellum plantation where cotton, indigo and rice dominated. And now at The Hampton Club, golf is king.
Opened in August of 1989, the course was designed by renowned architect Joe Lee, considered a master at coaxing brilliant design from the landscape. However, as Lee walked the land in early 1988, we grew concerned that the site might not support the layout he planned. Noticing a small cluster of marsh islands located across a small tidal creek just west of the Plantation's high ground, Lee's skills in creative land use envisioned a bold stroke of genius that would become The Hampton Club's signature.
Today, golfers literally go out of bounds along 800-feet of elevated, marsh-traversing cart bridges to experience play on four spectacular holes gently carved from the marsh islands. While these four signature holes highlight play on The Hampton Club's back nine, the entire 18-hole, Par 72 course combines for an experience that always finds it on golf's "must-play" lists on the Florida to Myrtle Beach circuit.
Joe Lee's tour de force design bends around towering oaks, along large areas of saltmarsh, and across lakes and lagoons. In 1993, the course underwent a dramatic fine-tuning that solidified its place among the south's finest courses.
The Hampton Club is owned and operated by The King and Prince Beach Golf Resort, located along the ocean near the southern end of St. Simons Island. One travel magazine recently referred to the combination of this luxury seaside resort with caliber of golf at The Hampton Club "the perfect vacation two-step."
