Spencer House Inn was chosen the "Best B & B" award winner for 11 years in a row and was selected by the editors of Water's Edge magazine as their "Favorite B & B" for 2001.

Spencer House Inn is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is located in the St. Marys Historic District. The Inn has 14 guest rooms each with a private bath. The guest rooms are individually decorated and each room is unique. Many of the baths have charming clawfoot soaking tubs while others have modern tubs and showers. A full breakfast is served each morning. The Inn is within a short walk to the ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore.

Amenities include telephone with free local calls, clock radio, complimentary morning newspaper, cable television with HBO and ESPN, ceiling fan, and central air and heat. Fresh flowers, chocolates and luxurious bath items await you in your lovely guestroom. The Inn has three verandahs with large cypress rockers for your comfort. In addition, the 3-storied Inn has an elevator and outside ramp for your convenience.

Start your day with the aroma of coffee and freshly baked foods enticing you down to our spacious breakfast room. We take great pride in our breakfast. Each morning, awaken to a satisfying breakfast buffet which includes coffee and tea, juices, fresh fruit, homemade cakes or muffins, as well as eggs, pancakes, french toast or one of the daily chef's specialties. In the afternoon, our sunny living room welcomes you to rest and relax with a glass of peach flavored iced tea and homemade cookies. Picnic lunches are available to take to Cumberland Island. The verandahs beckon you to linger awhile before exploring southeast Georgia and northeast Florida.

Built in 1872 by Captain William T. Spencer, the Spencer House was distinguished as the finest hotel in St. Marys and southeast Georgia. Mr. Spencer served as collector of customs for the port of St. Marys between 1871 and 1873. Spencer House is an exquisitly preserved example of victorian-era architecture.

The Spencer House Inn is decorated with fine antiques and beautiful reproductions. Selected fabrics, rugs and furnishings breathe new life into the big, sunny, many-windowed Inn. Original mouldings, high ceilings and heart pine floors add warmth and beauty to the Inn.
