201 Wills Road
American Legion Post 201
The Walk of Memories was created by American Legion Post 201 to honor every Georgian killed in combat since Pearl Harbor. There are 7220 bricks, each with the name of a Georgia serviceman or servicewoman engraved on it, including 19 bricks with the names of Georgia’s Medal of Honor recipients. There’s also a place for those who died in the Iraqi War, with 132 bricks to date and room to expand.
The walk is punctuated with military equipment; a 46 ton A1 Abrams tank, a 40mm anti-aircraft gun saved from the LST Polk County, and a Huey helicopter that survived a mission that earned the pilot a Medal of Honor.
